Lexit-leaflet-cover-copy-2-627x381La lamentable farsa de “renegociación” de David Cameron sobre la adhesión de Gran Bretaña en la UE sólo ha servido para subrayar el carácter regresivo y antidemocrático de esta institución . Sabemos por la extrema austeridad impuesta al pueblo de Grecia que la UE no sólo es antidemocrática en sí misma, sino también anti-democrática en un sentido más fundamental: sus instituciones no permitirán que la opinión de un pueblo expresada democráticamente sea defendida si va en contra el proyecto de libre mercado.La UE se ha comprometido de manera irreversible con las privatizaciones, los recortes sociales, los salarios bajos y la erosión de los derechos sindicales. Esta es la razón por la que las fuerzas dominantes del capitalismo británico y la mayor parte de su clase política están a favor de continuar en la UE. La UE se ha comprometido de manera irrevocable con el TTIP y con nuevos acuerdos comerciales, que representan la mayor transferencia de poder al capital que se haya visto en una generación.Las afirmaciones que la libre circulación de los trabajadores dentro de la UE es una barrera para la xenofobia son falsas. Sin derechos laborales y sin una alternativa a la austeridad, los migrantes serán presa de las reaccionarias fuerzas xenófobas, con o sin el acuerdo de Schengen. Y, lo que es más grave, la “Europa fortaleza” asegura que los que están fuera del consorcio de las naciones de la UE serán objeto de una miserable discriminación, si tienen suerte y no se ahogan en el Mediterráneo.

Apostamos por una visión positiva de una futura Europa basada en la democracia, la justicia social y la sostenibilidad ecológica, y no en los intereses de lucro de una pequeña élite. Por estos motivos nos comprometemos a trabajar por el voto por la salida de la UE en el próximo referéndum sobre la pertenencia del Reino Unido.
